Our Port and Marine Terminals (PMT) group is currently made up of teams across North America and globally, based in Vancouver, Montreal, Tamps, Milan and New York. The group provides services for all phases of a port or marine project's life cycle, from planning through commissioning including detailed design, construction and operation. Our many achievements include container terminals, oil and gas facilities, dry bulk ports, marinas, ferries, coastal structures, wharves, jetties, naval facilities, and cruise terminals. Your Opportunity

Our PMT South Region is in search of a Project Manager/Maritime Structural Engineer. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of the PMT team of planners, engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Your role as an impactful contributor on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for developing and implementing an engineering discipline group equipped with up-to-date engineering and design tools and innovations, technical and supervisory capabilities, and operating procedures to successfully and efficiently execute projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for marine structures and other port related projects of varying complexity
  • Develops project work plans and ensures its execution though oversight and management of the project team. Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all structural engineered systems or products for a project.
  • Engages in the development of a design through analysis, design, drawings, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Prepares and revises documentation through various project phases including site plans, sections, diagrams, and details.
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. Serves as a primary point of contact with project owner/client.
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents
  • Participates in constructability reviews.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
  • Prepares project reports and feasibility studies.
  • Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
  • Manages project schedules, budgets and client engagement.
  • Assists and leads the development of proposals for port development projects
  • Oversees and manages multiple projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of marine structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
  • Experience with STAAD software for structural modeling
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Thorough understanding of structural engineering and port engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
  • Strong written and verbal skills for interaction with project team, owners and clients.
  • Strong project management skills including oversight of project teams' budget and schedule performance.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer.

Minimum of 10 years of experience including minimum 2 years in a project management role.
