Your Opportunity
A Legal Assistant/Paralegal position is available within our Risk Management group. This role is responsible for a range of legal and administrative tasks to support Stantec’s Risk Management team.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Draft legal documents including contract documents according to Stantec policies, preparing letters, and responses to freedom of information requests.
- Implement and manage document holds and record collections and productions for litigation and third party subpoenas
- Perform privilege reviews on records for disclosure
- Assist Corporate Counsel in claim reviews and factual investigations
- Review and analyze contract exceptions and modifications submitted by Stantec's clients and subconsultants.
- Work with our Corporate Integrity team on updating and maintaining policies and records
- Reviewing requests for proposals and contracts from legal risk and Stantec policy perspectives.
- Schedule meetings, prepare meeting minutes, prepare expense reports, and code invoices as required by Corporate Counsel
- File management, including maintaining and updating legal databases
- Prepare, draft and file various correspondence, documents and government submittals
- Perform general administrative functions as required
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Power Point applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and is willing to take on tasks as needed
- Efficient, organized, high attention to detail, meticulous records maintenance skills
- Professional and capable of handling confidential matters
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn and a positive attitude are critical
- Work remotely, or in an office setting from time to time
Education and Experience
Five plus years of current, relevant experience (compensation and title commensurate with experience and/or license).
Paralegal diploma/degree from an accredited institution is an asset
