Your Opportunity
We are looking to expand our Southern California archaeological team. This position can be based out of any of our So-Cal offices and will report to the Cultural Resources Principal in the Bakersfield office. Work will take place throughout Southern California, with potential opportunities in the Southwest and Great Basin. This is a fieldwork position and work need are heavily influenced by the seasonal weather. On occasion, there may be opportunity for office and/or lab-based work.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in identifying and recording areas of archeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
- Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
- Collect field data
- Participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type)
- Assist in archaeological impact assessments
- Archaeological monitoring
- Excavations
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Interest in Cultural Resource Management
- Dedicated to following and promoting a strong safety culture
- Able to travel and work away from home
- Good driving record and a valid California driver’s license is required
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology is required.
- If you are an entry level position, previous cultural resource management experience is not required.
- Participation in an archaeological field school is seen as an asset.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
