Your Opportunity
In this entry level to 3-year position, you will develop technical skills and assist the project team with drawings and drafting in the creative design process. Being creative and detail oriented, you will create design documents, together with conceptual and final designs, renderings, master plans, and construction documents. You will work in a casual environment with some of Kansas City's most experienced and creative landscape architects as part of a multi-disciplinary design team including planners, environmental scientists, and civil engineers on a wide variety of projects, locally, regionally, and nationally.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist the project team in site analysis, site planning, conceptual design, final design, and preparation of construction plans for a variety of landscape architecture project types, as well as participate in the creation of 3D graphics and technical documents
- Use knowledge of the general concepts of landscape design including site analysis, project theming, schematic design, and design development
- Assist the project team with the preparation of project documentation during all phases of design, such as project graphics and exhibits, site grading, paving designs, walls, structures, site lighting, planting design, and construction observation
- Develop technical skills and assist the project team with drawings and drafting in the creative design process
- Support construction administration on projects by attending site visits and/or construction meetings and assist in preparing sketches or drawing revisions and photography
- assist in the development of a design through hand graphics sketches, electronic models, diagrams, video flythroughs, and other visual formats
- Perform due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start new projects
- Develop software skills utilizing relevant programs to assist with preparation of simple exhibits to complex work drawings
- Participate in college recruiting and relations
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Excellent design, graphics, computer, written, and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Land-FX, SketchUp, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Enscape, Rhino, or Revit is a bonus
- Proficient hand drafting and sketching abilities resulting in strong conceptual designs
- Highly motivated and passionate about design, possesses strong time management, critical thinking, organization skills, and has the ability to multitask
- Comfortable working within a team environment, as well as being productive independently with limited supervision
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program
- Minimum of 0-3 years of experience
