Your Opportunity


Stantec has opportunities for an Intermediate to Senior Environmental Permitting Practitioner to help support or lead our environmental assessments and other permitting projects within British Columbia. This position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of technical, permitting, and approval requirements. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat, and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design, and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. These projects will be in the ports and marine, transportation, oil and gas, mining, or power sectors.


Your Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supporting or leading environmental planning and regulatory projects such as site selection studies, environmental assessments, and permit applications
  • Preparing regulatory and technical sections of applications
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Program
  • Coordinating and tracking of assignments, scopes, schedules budgets, and deliverables
  • Demonstrating leadership and coordination of staff across operating units
  • Technical writing and report preparation
  • Contributing to proposals (budget development and proposal writing)
  • Client management, client communication and business development
  • Technical direction to staff/mentoring of staff
  • Subcontractor management

Your Capabilities and Credentials

 

  • Knowledgeable of and experienced with federal and/or provincial permitting requirements
  • Practical knowledge of environmental mitigation and best management practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project schedule and financial management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies
  • Committed to providing quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a team setting, accept responsibility and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel for project work, as needed
  • Experience assisting or guiding field programs related to mining is an asset
  • Indigenous and public engagement experience is an asset


Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor or graduate degree in an environmental, physical science, or engineering related discipline with at least Eight (8) years of experience focusing on environmental assessments or permitting
  • Has obtained or is eligible for a professional designation in British Columbia (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag.)
