Your Opportunity
Join a Top 10 global design firm in our buildings practice that provides Interior Design, Architecture, and Buildings Engineering services. Our office is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our interdisciplinary team, with a specific focus on our Healthcare sector.
Our Philadelphia and Virginia practice is a growing location for partnership with a national healthcare provider based on the west coast. Our Mid-Atlantic team seeks to expand to design and manage projects throughout the country. Projects may include a range of renovation and new construction.
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will lead and/or support the design process with clients and projects locally, regionally and nationally as appropriate. A primary role of the Senior Interior Designer is to envision and translate the needs and desires of a client set forth into cohesive interior design solutions. Our multidisciplinary approach encompasses the building architecture, interior design and engineering systems as one cohesive vision and team. An Interior Designer is expected to be an active and collaborative team member, conceptualizing, developing and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications and FFE. This process may involve production of drawings(2D/3D), and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. This individual will often be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with leadership and peers to build and enhance our healthcare practice including attracting and retaining team members, mentoring team members, creating an engaging and inclusive culture, establishing a strong focus on design, and collaborating on business plan and strategy.
- Conceptualize and develop interior design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget, and program.
- Participate and lead visioning workshop discussions and activities with clients to ascertain cultural and practical needs and desires and translate into the built environment.
- Participate in development of the program and other pre-design efforts.
- Develop space planning, block planning, and/or adjacency diagrams in coordination with building program.
- Develop the interior architecture and interior design concept, material palette, design documentation and FFE through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent.
- Present design ideas and solutions to clients.
- Work with outside and internal team members and consultants to coordinate drawings sets.
- Ensure design complies with building codes, ADA guidelines and LEED per project type and requirements.
- Coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent and implements sustainable design principles.
- Mentors less-senior Interior Design staff.
- Adherence to Stantec’s required QA/QC process, including design reviews.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the profession and the firm.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Thorough knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
- Thorough understanding of all phases of architectural document production through construction administration and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to lead guide junior staff and take responsibility for accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of document production.
- Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to present to client groups and create design solutions that interpret and fulfill the needs of the client.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material and communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Bluebeam.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field.
- Licensed Interior Designer.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
