Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking to add a Field Biologist/Ecologist to support our team based out of Norcross, Georgia.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting technical specialists in the field with biological (wildlife/avian), aquatic, botanical, and water quality surveys and monitoring efforts.
  • Conducting field assessments and compiling/summarizing data under the direction of project managers or technical specialists.
  • Entering and managing technical data and preparing graphs and tables.
  • Help with preparation of technical reports, plans, and permit applications.
  • Learn and follow current data collections methodologies, protocol, and environmental agency regulations.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 2-5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel required).
  • Basic GPS data collection skills.
  • Familiarity with the current U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) listed species regulations and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Section 404/401 regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to traverse wet and rugged terrain in diverse, sometimes inclement, weather conditions while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience operating basic hand tools and smaller equipment.
  • Availability and willingness to travel overnight when needed.
  • Will work in an environment where safety is at the forefront of all operations
  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to drive a company vehicle and an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with wetland delineations and listed species surveys in Georgia and/or the SE U.S.
  • Experience in native and invasive species plant identification

Education

  • Bachelor's degree with courses related to the Environmental Studies, Ecology, Field Ecology, Botany, or Biological Sciences.
