Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a detail oriented, well organized, dependable, Environmental/Geological Specialist with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong technical background in environmental remediation, project/task management experience, and general knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and health & safety procedures to join our team.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting environmental remediation/investigation tasks and providing site assessment, remedial investigation, and remedial action support for complex environmental remediation projects at sites with multi-media investigations.  Experience with Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) facilities is a plus. Responsibilities will include:

 

Your Key Responsibilities

Field data collection and analysis including:

  • logging soil and rock core in subsurface explorations, including installing monitoring wells and piezometers
  • perform aquifer testing and groundwater flow evaluations
  • soil, groundwater and surface water sampling
  • supervising field drilling and related operations, networking with large teams
  • Generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.

Office work will include:

  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary project teams of scientists, engineers, chemists, geologists, hydrogeologists, risk assessors, and field personnel to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of site investigation plans to identify and delineate chemicals of concern in soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor for domestic and international clients.
  • Assisting in developing more junior staff in technical and consulting excellence.
  • Assuring the quality of all work and product deliverables and achievement of project objectives to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Designing and using relational databases to manage and report analytical and other field data
  • Groundwater modeling, calibration via data updates, remediation strategy projection and performance monitoring.
  • Data compilation, report writing, and data mining
  • Prepare figures using GIS, CAD, etc.

 

Your Capabilties and Capabilities

  • Intent to become Registered Geologist in Georgia and other states is preferred.
  • 40 hr Hazwoper (OSHA Hazardous Worker) certification is desired but not required  
  • Position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, good work ethic, and a passion for high quality workmanship.
  • Must be willing to directly execute field geologic explorations, monitoring well installations, environmental sampling and related logs and documentation.
  • Experience GIS and EQuIS preferred
  • Interest in Leapfrog software or ambition to become proficient in support of related hydrogeologic modeling is a plus. 
  • Familiar with AutoCad is preferred, but not required
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
  • A valid US driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and physical are required
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds is required.
  • Ability to work outside under adverse weather conditions is required.
  • Ability to climb a ladder is required.
  • Travel will be required.

 

Education and Experience

  • BS or associates degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • 0 to 5 years relevant experience. 

 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
