Your Opportunity

Stantec’s New England Transportation group has a need for a Civil Designer with an interest in roadway and highway, bicycle/pedestrian, and civil/site design. The position is located in our Burlington, MA, or Quincy, MA office.  This position is for an individual that understands Civil Engineering design fundamentals from education, internship, co-op, or other work experience. You will have an opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and diverse transportation projects in the region.

The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and contribute to the infrastructure design projects throughout New England.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD design software on a daily basis to support the design development process
  • Prepare design calculations and quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates.
  • Perform project research and analyze/present data in tabular or graphic format.
  • Contribute to engineering reports and technical studies.
  • Conduct field visits during the design development process.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, such as environmental, traffic, landscape, and structural.
  • Attend client, agency, and public meetings to see the different phases of a project first-hand.
  • Effectively engage the communities we work in.
  • Receive training and mentorship.
  • Be a valued member of project teams.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil/site and transportation design.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD and any other relevant design software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Use of internet and software tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and organized.
  • Networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently when required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. EIT preferred.
0-3 years of experience required.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
