Transportation Planning/Traffic Engineering Intern (Summer 2023)

Your Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated Civil/Transportation Engineering Intern for our Lexington, KY Transportation Planning/Traffic Engineering group. 

This is a paid internship position with a part-time schedule during the semester and full-time hours during the summer. 

Your Key Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated, energetic individual who is interested in growth on a professional and personal level.  Someone with experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and who has an interest in learning advanced transportation planning applications such as travel demand modeling and/or traffic simulation modeling is preferred.  We offer all candidates the opportunity to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment, and an internship with Stantec can lead to more long-term and rewarding career opportunities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with traffic engineering or transportation planning methods and application software is highly desirable
  • GIS skills preferred
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills, including computer literacy in GIS, MicroStation, word processing, Excel, PowerPoint and other standard office software is an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Achieve a Civil Engineering degree within the next two years

Typical office environment working with computers and within teams of other high-achieving professionals. Field work, while limited, may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
