Your Opportunity
Stantec’s surveying team in our Laurel, MD office is in growth mode. Our diverse portfolio of local government, federal and private sector work is increasing steadily, and we seek to grow our team in a commensurate fashion by hiring a mid-level Survey Technician to complement our existing team of professionals.
The specific scope of work of this position is to provide technical inputs, in collaboration with project teams, for the preparation of surveys and construction stakeout. The nature of the technical inputs includes analysis, computations, and drafting related to the preparation of deed mosaics, boundaries, topographies, construction stakeout computations, deed research, and other survey related tasks. The candidate should have strong CAD skills and be able to lead the preparation of survey plats as well as manage survey crews.
Our portfolio includes land development, transportation and utilities. We lead many of our own projects from several our local offices; we also support projects with other Stantec divisions such as Buildings, Energy and Environmental Services.
Stantec’s career track for mid-level professionals includes technical and management paths. Both paths would be open to the person that fills this position.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
- Experience indeed research, boundary determination, topography processing, construction stakeout computations, and plat preparations.
- Strong oral, written and graphic communication skills.
- The ability to lead and complete specific tasks in a relatively independent fashion.
- The ability to work collaboratively with teams of professionals.
- Competence in using software, including Civil3D, Autodesk ReCap, Trimble Business Center, Microstation, Trimble General Survey, Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), and other standard software programs for survey drafting.
Education and Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the profession of Surveying
CST certification preferred, but not required
Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
