Your Opportunity

The role of a Structural Designer/Engineer is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Structural EIT will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist with Bridge Structure efforts in Pennsylvania.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Structural design and project delivery for both complex and non-complex transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts and highway structures in accordance with specifications.
  • Design and load rating analysis of new structures, replacement structures, or rehabilitated structures.
  • Applying engineering principals to prepare structural design calculations and technical reports.
  • Preparation of construction/contract documents including drawings (MicroStation), specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team setting.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design - Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • PennDOT design experience and PennDOT design software a plus.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO bridge specifications and PennDOT/PTC Design Manuals a plus.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others.
  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration preferred.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
