Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an environmental engineer/scientist and/or safety professional to join our team in pursuing and delivering EHS and sustainability solutions to commercial, industrial, and public-sector clients in industries ranging from pharmaceutical, food and beverage, general manufacturing, aerospace, oil and gas, power generation, and healthcare. The position will support the completion of EHS projects through each stage of our client’s compliance governance - including inspecting facility operations for environmental and safety regulatory compliance, multi-media environmental permitting, preparation of EHS policy and management plans, and regulatory reporting obligations.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct EHS compliance audits, gap analysis, virtually and in-person, preparing reports and permit applications, performing research and data evaluation, and management and recordkeeping of compliance tasks.
- Provide on-site EHS support at client facilities including completion of routine inspections, development of EHS programs, and correction of audit deficiencies in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), and federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Technical consulting for clients on regulatory compliance matters including permit management, regulatory reporting (i.e., air, waste, EPCRA, etc.), industrial hygiene, and industrial safety.
- Preparation and presentation of training modules to client staff.
- Manage or oversee the delivery of EHS projects to our clients.
- Prepare proposals generated through the candidate’s business leads and as identified by Stantec Account and Client Managers.
- Support business relationships, internally and externally, with clients to promote new opportunities for Stantec.
Desired Qualifications:
- Practical ability to analyze technical data, perform research, demonstrate technical knowledge, and problem solve.
- Strong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically), and good presentation skills.
- Field experience in industrial EHS compliance settings is preferred.
- Prior experience participating in EHS audits to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training, OSHA 30-hour general industry, and/or 10-hour construction safety training preferred.
- Must pass drug test, background check, physical, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy.
- Willingness to travel locally (50%+ in the Northeast Region) and nationally (25%) and work flexible hours from home or a Stantec office. There are also opportunities to be imbedded at a local client’s facility for one to several days a week as needed.

A qualified candidate will have direct relevant experience supporting:
- EHS due diligence and compliance assurance,
- EHS procedures development and training,
- Air quality, wastewater, stormwater, chemical management, bulk liquid storage, waste handling, industrial hygiene, and industrial safety compliance and permitting.
- Experience with sustainability, including energy efficiency in industrial processes, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, delivering water reuse and recycling solutions, and supporting sustainable supply chain capacity is preferred, as well as exposure to facility closure, site investigation and land remediation services.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in a related discipline, preferred, and/or professional certifications (i.e., PE, CSP, CHMM, etc.).
- Minimum of 8 years related experience.
