Your Opportunity
We are in an energy transition – sustainability and renewable attributes of our power generation sources are becoming increasingly important to society. Wind power and Solar PV increasingly contribute non-dispatchable electricity which hydroelectric power plants and storage firm up to match consumer and grid requirements. Our work includes developing new greenfield power facilities as well as the assessment and renewal of existing, historic plants.

Purpose of Job
Reporting to the Sector Leader (SL), the RENEWABLE ENERGY ANALYST performs insightful analysis across the various renewable technologies and their markets, alongside account managers, project delivery teams, and BC leadership. They are generalists who are accountable for understanding the renewable industries and their stakeholders and know to translate their analyses into quantitative, evidence-based, relevant results and insights. They work collaboratively with leaders in the respective technologies to mine project opportunities and produce internal and client project deliverables.
Your Key Responsibilities
Our hydro, wind and solar team is seeking a colleague who enjoys human interaction, can understand client needs and matches them with appropriate solutions. We believe that these skills can most likely be found in a mechanical engineer with strong understanding of engineering applications and tools for hydroelectrical, wind and solar facilities plus a background in managing people, projects, business development or finance.

- Understand skills, capabilities and gaps in the Energy Business Line, and related Stantec business lines across Canada, support international collaboration
- Understand complexity of a given client project and match with appropriate analyses
- Present training modules comfortably in own area of expertise
Improve Effectiveness
- Work with the Business Center Practice Leaders (BCPL), BC Operation Leaders (BCOL) and other leaders to produce and use appropriate analysis tools
- Meet HSSE goals and targets and personal utilization requirement.
- Communicate at ease and habitually across the corporate hierarchy
- Understand project management principles and apply consistently according to Stantec 10-Step process
- Be able to scale administrative process to size and type of application and identify potential for improvements
Grow Business
- Support local business development pursuits
- Understand renewable industries, emerging business opportunities, changing needs and players
- Understand and apply client management according to Stantec systems
- Communicate comfortably with clients across their hierarchy from boardroom to shop floor
- Know existing clients, the issues they may need help with and their staff
- Recognize where Stantec can be of value to clients
Promote Brand
- Know and relate with relevant industry associations, academic institutions and training programs
- Write, coordinate or present publications and conference presentations
- Know Stantec’s technology differentiators and be able to explain client benefits
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Core Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering or Applied Science Degree or Certificate from an accredited University or College
- Entered the EIT program in at least one Canadian Province (P.Eng.)
- Good communication skills in English
Other Qualifications that would be an asset:
- Post-graduate degree or area of specialization
- Experience in data analytics or machine learning
- Bilingual in French & English and other foreign languages
- Valid Canadian driver license
Preferred location in Ontario
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
