The Boston studio of Stantec Architecture, a national leader in design, thought, and practice, is seeking a collaborative-minded technical architect or industrial designer with 8-12 years of experience to support our interior and architecture practices.

Your Opportunity
We work in a fast-paced studio environment and technical DM’s provide a critical role to our teams. Technical Design Managers are able to contribute independently and help direct junior staff to work from conceptual design to documentation & delivery. We are seeking a motivated individual with strong design and graphic skills to join our team and work on exciting projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the following areas:
- Interior architectural products and systems
- In-depth understanding of fabrication processes including metal, stone, architectural millwork, and digitally driven manufacturing
- Conventional and "future" materials with an eye towards integrating them into the interior environment
- Commercial hardware and architectural millwork hardware products and attachment solutions
- Metal finishes and patinas; wood coatings; paint finishes
- Stair design and detailing
- Architectural millwork and detailing
- Structural design principles as they impact attachment and installation in the interior environment
Typical duties include:
- Work collaboratively with the Design Principal and Senior Project Designers to develop buildable solutions from conceptual design
- Serve as a resource and mentor for younger staff
- Develop construction documentation and detailing in Revit
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited college in architecture, engineering, or industrial design; or 15+ years’ experience in a high-end millwork apprenticeship in custom architectural fabrications.
- Minimum 8-12 years of prior experience
- Great team player with excellent communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks or projects
- Eager to learn, good listener, curious & proactive with strong time management skills
- Foundational knowledge in construction materials, manufacturing processes, and architectural detailing.
- Proficiency with Revit, Sketchup, & Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
