Stantec’s Chicago water infrastructure projects include large and small projects for new and existing clients in the water, wastewater, stormwater, and flood control sectors of the Chicago market. Our team is known for delivering projects such as turning the Red Rock Dam in Pella, Iowa, into a hydroelectric power dam and redesigning the Chicago Metropolitan Water Reclmation District's ongoing Tunnel and Reservoir Plan (TARP). Joining Stantec’s global network of over 600 conveyance engineers, with a reputation as a go-to firm for conveyance services, you will be given the opportunity to grow your career working on iconic water conveyance projects from first request through construction. The Stantec Conveyance team is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to improve and expand this critical infrastructure—everything from force mains and sanitary sewers to hydraulic structures, pipelines, open channels, and storage. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting engineering and senior project staff in producing high quality work products for our municipal water and wastewater clients. Tasks may include: performing engineering calculations, preparing detailed design drawings and specifications, preparing planning and technical engineering reports, hydraulic modeling, research, data entry.
  • Interacting with local and remote clients, staff, permitting agencies, and other consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects.
  • Supporting project management activities associated with the planning and execution of municipal engineering projects.
  • Participating in local efforts to identify, pursue, and win new projects and work.
  • Assisting with site visits and field investigations as necessary.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience with GIS and CAD software preferred, but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Past success working as part of high-performing teams.
  • Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • A thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of civil and/or environmental engineering.
  • An appreciation of the importance of water and wastewater infrastructure and a desire to contribute to this industry and the world.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience or the combination of education and experience to qualify for licensure within one year of hire
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensed Professional Engineer

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
