Join Stantec as an intermediate or senior biologist to become part of the Environmental Studies & Authorizations team at our Amos or Val D'Or office. Your main task will be to participate in characterization studies of the natural environment as well as in environmental assessments of projects of various sizes.
You will be responsible for planning and carrying out floristic inventories and analyzing the collected data to make recommendations regarding the ecological value of the environments. You must be familiar with botanical inventory methods as well as wetland and riparian area identification and delineation.
You will have written applications for certificates of authorization under section 22 of the Environment Quality Act and conducted studies of all types, such as conservation plans for natural environments, ecological value assessments, wetland intervention strategies for construction projects, compensation projects and others.
You will work as part of a team with other specialists and technicians, particularly those involved in conducting impact studies. As part of these studies, you may be called upon to participate in the description of the natural environment, the analysis of the impacts of projects on the environment as well as the development of environmental management plans. More specifically:
Your responsibilities
- Carry out inventories of the natural environment, under the supervision of the team leader and project managers.
- Analyze the inventory data to produce a detailed characterization of the environmental conditions and participate in the identification of intervention strategies for the environment.
- Carry out the delineation of wetlands and the natural high-water line according to the methodology of the MDDELCC.
- Write technical notes and reports.
- Guide the development of figures and maps illustrating the elements addressed in the study reports.
- Ensure the administrative management your mandates, maintain regular contact with clients.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in biology (or related discipline) with knowledge of botany.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in natural environment studies.
- Knowledge of the laws and regulations on the protection of the natural environment (federal and provincial).
- Excellent command of written French,
